In 2021, the Measles & Rubella Partnership (M&RP) released the Measles & Rubella Strategic Framework (MRSF) 2021-2030 to establish a targeted, evidence-based path forward to eliminate measles and rubella. Four years in, the MRSF 2021-2030 Midterm Review evaluates global progress toward the elimination of both diseases and highlights strategies to close the gaps.

While advancements have been made, the world remains off-track to reach elimination targets by 2030. Large and disruptive outbreaks have increased around the world. Surveillance systems are feeling the pressure and facing financial constraints. Limited global health financing, vaccine hesitancy, misinformation, and declining public trust are on the rise.

The Midterm Review makes clear that measles and rubella prevention must remain a priority at global, regional, and national levels. Integrating measles and rubella activities with other health campaigns can help expand reach, while strengthening outbreak preparedness and response capacity can contain these crises.
